      • Supportive: They *absolutely* are. I found that interesting on a lot of levels. Part of it was that I was getting a lot of similar stories that week and exposed to a particularly moving one; part of it was that I know some contrasting stories (including at the most extreme the story of a fan who was forced to abandon the fandom by her husband); part of it was that I was just leaving my own family and thinking about partner/family support systems, which preoccupied me with the question of the differing ways that we offer support — and with pondering my conviction that support is support and that we’re thankful to our partners for all kinds of things — including, sometimes, their frustration with us. It seemed like it was time to write that post, and to leave in all the partners.
